Pushkar
(13 Jan 1998)

Pushkar is a centre of pilgramage, a small but prosperous town.
Meat and alcohol are banned but bangh lassi is on many menu's in town.

In eastern Rajasthan on the edge of the desert, camel rides are a popular way to spend a few hours.

Pushkar is built around a lake surrounded by temples and ghats.
I had a cold (imported from England) but Sue went for a walk up the hill you can see with the temple on top.

The children of Pushkar fill the skies with their kites.
Out of town and the climb ahead looms into sight.

  Villages passed out of town.
The spectacular view of the town she had from the top.

We left Pushkar just after lunch and head south towards Udaipur at the bottom left of the map.
Not a great distance but not a great road, we arrive just after the sun has gone down.

A welcome chai break along the road in the mid afternoon.

The hills around Udaipur as the sun is going down.
Accidents like this one are common on India's roads.
